The Road To San Francisco
This photobook documents the progress to San Francisco. San Francisco is a major landmark on this journey as it marks the first major city north of L.A. After leaving San Luis Obispo I started seeing signs for San Fran, and so I decided to try to take a picture of each one as I go. Most of the signs are similar, but it is interesting how the cities inbetween will change. Also, you can see some of the scenery around the sign, although not much. An update on the voyage to San Francisco: I made it to the city on Monday, the 9th. I didn't actually ride into the city. I rode into Daly City and hopped on the BART from there into the city. So I never saw any signage welcoming me into the city. I didn't have a particularly amazing stay in the city, either. On the second day, what was supposed to be my relaxation day, I had nothing but problems, from a broken rack-mount screw which I had to pay to have drilled out, to a flat tire and bad spare tubes, to not being able to camp. It just wasn't my time to be in the city. It's okay, though, I miss those small town folks with their freindly attitudes and eagerness to help a traveler. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() almost there... ![]() quite fitting that i would only get the San Francisco sign as i was leaving. just a small sign on the other side of the Golden Gate Bridge Send Otis a comment Comments Great Fun! Kari Jessen Hey man, it's too bad I didn't read about your bike journey sooner. My grandma lives just outside San Luis Obispo; it would have been a good place for a shower, laundry, sleep, etc.! Hope the trip is going well! Sounds exciting! |
